Giving Tuesday 2019: December 3 - Columbia Land Trust
Restore a River and more this Giving Tuesday, December 3rd

The season of giving thanks is upon us. Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving designed to serve as an antidote to the shopping hysteria of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, is taking place on December 3rd this year. Here at Columbia Land Trust, Giving Tuesday has grown into a wholehearted celebration of the lands, waters, and wildlife, that we’re able to conserve and care for thanks to the generous support of passionate people like you.

This year, we’re advancing projects throughout the Columbia River region that have the power to transform landscapes, conserve stunning places, and even inspire the next generation of conservationists and land managers. One of our most exciting and timely opportunities is a project known as Wildboy Creek. Located in the headwaters of Washington’s Washougal River, a 55-foot dam has outlasted its intended purpose and blocks threatened salmon and steelhead from 7 miles of upstream habitat will holding back sediment. We have a limited window of time to conserve the area, which includes 1,300 acres of forestland, and we’ve partnered with the Cowlitz Indian Tribe with the goal of removing the dam. To highlight the difference you can make when you support Columbia Land Trust, we’re choosing Giving Tuesday to release our short film, Meander: Restoring Wildboy Creek.

Follow us throughout the day on December 3 to see the film, learn about this marquee project, and join us in raising the critical funds necessary to conserve and care for our region’s lands, waters, and wildlife.  This year, we’ve set our most ambitious goal ever: to raise $35,000 in a single day.  It’s an especially great day to give to Columbia Land Trust as generous supporters Sue and Drew Snyder are matching the first $7,500 raised on Giving Tuesday, dollar for dollar.

Join us, and invite your friends to support a mission you care deeply about. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed given the current state of the environment, but every gift on Giving Tuesday will make a real, lasting, and local difference for the salmon, the wildlife, rivers, and the people that make the Northwest so incredible.

Check out our film trailer below and tune in on December 3rd to watch the full video!

(Or, if you’re feeling too inspired to wait until the 3rd, you can make an early Giving Tuesday Gift.)
