Our collective efforts make a difference.
The climate we’re living in today is different from the one we grew up with, and it will continue to change in the future. We hear firsthand from farmers, foresters, and community members who are witnessing the changes on the ground every day. And while it presents daunting challenges, we know we have the power to make a difference in the area we live, especially when we act together.
At Columbia Land Trust, our work is a powerful part of the solution. We know that healthy, functional ecosystems are far more resilient than degraded ones. That’s where our greatest impact lies and why our Stewardship Team focuses on strengthening ecosystems to prepare them for what’s ahead. Sometimes that means replanting forests along rivers to keep water cool for fish and wildlife or restoring native plants and trees that can better withstand drought and fire or reconnecting tidal floodplains to create habitat and lessen the impact of flooding. Through these and other strategies, we are strengthening landscapes and giving both ecosystems and communities the best possible chance to thrive for generations to come.
Each of these actions makes a meaningful impact. Still, we are just one part of a much larger effort. Meeting this moment will require collective action—locally, nationally, and globally. We’re here, with you, to do our part.
