920-acre Columbia Stock Ranch Property Conserved
Overview of Columbia Land Trust, featured projects and blog postings
Columbia Land Trust has just completed the acquisition of nearly 1,000 acres of wetlands and forest along the Columbia River just west of St. Helens. This lush and diverse piece of land, a former cattle ranch and dairy farm, was entrusted to us by a family that had owned, and loved, the property for six decades.
After nearly 18 months of negotiations, the family decided that their legacy would be in the best of hands with Columbia Land Trust. We are very excited about the potential to restore this as a feeding, rearing and sheltering wetlands for migrating salmon and other wetlands species.
This is the largest single acquisition we have completed, and we look forward to restoring it with the help of our partners, Bonneville Power Administration and the Army Corps of Engineers.
