May 29 Thursday 1:00 to 5:00 pm Elk, Eagles & Exploration½ day tour of Oregon's Lower Columbia River Estuary Start & Finish in Astoria, Oregon | Join local naturalists and conservation leaders in exploring where the Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean, Oregon's Columbia River Estuary. Visit lands protected by Columbia Land Trust and our partners, and explore opportunities for future conservation. Enjoy majestic views of the coastal mountains, river and sea. Watch abundant wildlife, such as Roosevelt elk, Bald eagles, and many types of shorebirds and waterfowl. Finish the tour at a historic brewpub in beautiful Astoria. |

June 7 Saturday 8:30 to 4:00 pm Legacy Lands III: Waterfalls and WildernessLewis River Greenway & Cascade Forestlands Clark County | By far the largest protected greenway in Clark County is along the East Fork Lewis River, originating near I-5 and continuing nearly halfway to Mt. Adams. We'll visit the broad floodplain and bucolic agricultural lands of the lower river, and continue up past the cascading waterfalls at Lucia, Moulton and Sunset Falls. We'll penetrate the great forests of the Cascade foothills, and learn about imminent threats that could riddle the forest land with roads and houses. And you'll learn about innovative new strategies that we are using to save the forests! |
