Many of us visit the beaches of the coast, but seldom have enough time to discover the true biodiversity of the plants, waters, and wildlife. Join us this summer on a canoe trip on Island Lake, which is surrounded by Land Trust-conserved land on the Long Beach Peninsula with Conservation Manager Nadia Gardner and Board of Directors member Jennifer Sims. Learn how the preservation of the interdunal lakes and wetlands of the area not only provide habitat to species from rare marbled murrelets to stunning trumpeter swans, but also contribute to the water quality of the neighboring cranberry bogs. We’ll also hike the land to stretch our legs in search of native plants and forage a few tasty treats. Seats are limited, register today.
MODERATE – Canoe and oar use for approximately 2 hours. Hiking on soft ground through some brush and debris underfoot. Canoes, life jackets, and oars provided.
All transportation, snacks, and lunch are provided. Transportation departs from the Columbia Land Trust Vancouver office at promptly 7:30 a.m and returns at approximately 5:00 p.m.
